Five events in 3 days. What a weekend….
A 3 day event in Cheshire, a local farmers market and our first distillery event. The Cuckoo team covered the ground on this glorious sunny, ice cold winter weekend in the North West.
It’s obvious to those who have followed our progress over the first 6 months, that getting ‘out there’ and meeting customers is our early strategy for building our family business. The added bonus is that it’s fantastic to meet new customers face to face and also catch up with those that have been fantastically loyal since our launch. This weekend covered all the bases.
We attended the Foodies Festival at Tatton Park to introduce our product to a new county. This three day event was manned by a combination of Alice, Mark and William. Despite a rather dark and poor location at the event, we managed to light up our stand with free samples and plenty of chatter about all things Cuckoo – we even introduced LED lights to some used cuckoo bottles to add some extra ‘light’ and a festive feel! Check out the picture posted to our Instagram account!
Since our launch in summer this year, we have been working on the hospitality side of the distillery. Two local event planners had been in touch about hosting an event at the distillery. After months of planning, designing and building from Gerard and Cath, the ‘Cuckoo’s Nest’ was ready for 50+ ladies for a gin inspired evening, topped off by a trip to the Musicals, with Liz blasting out some well known classics. To say Mark, Will, Tomaz (self proclaimed job title of ‘everything’) and Rob (our brewer/heating engineer) were busy behind the bar is an understatement!
Look out for an announcement regarding our bar on social media with some fantastic pictures that Alice took on the night.
Big thanks to Martyn and Jackie from the Village Tearoom at Wheelton for the lovely ‘afternoon tea’ buffet and to Kathryn Young and Hazel Holmes for organising the guests!
The final stop was our old stomping ground, an early start to set up the gazebo was followed by glorious sunshine and plenty of happy customers up at Hoghton Tower, just 3.7 miles from the distillery. Liz and Alice braved the cold, whilst Mark and Will headed off to finish up at Tatton Park.
….Best to forget the flat car battery on the way home.
A quick unload at the distillery (look how happy Will looks on the image!) and the weekend was complete!
Thanks to all the well wishers over the weekend, it really does keep us going!
